Research: what is our food's carbon footprint?

The world’s climates are changing, and it is predicted to change in a rate that is unprecedented in recent human history. It is considered a threat to human societies and natural ecosystems. There are wildfires in Australia killing billions of animals and the ice caps are melting in the poles. Large part of the human population is also suffering due to extreme weather events like floods, droughts and Hurricanes. All these are connected to human induced climate change.
I'm a graduate student from University of Florida who is researching on a method where we can communicate information about carbon emissions to general public. Carbon emissions by all of us are considered to be the main reason for climate change. People are looking for many ways to reduce carbon emissions and carbon labeling is one such tool that is proposed. It is as simple as placing a label on consumer products with carbon emission information associated with that product. The purpose is to enable consumers to make informed decisions and create a demand for products with less carbon emissions. However, we have limited knowledge about the effectiveness of this method. This is where I’m trying to contribute.
I will get information from consumers and analyze it to understand ways to improve the effectiveness of carbon labeling. I will connect with consumers from few different countries through ‘Amazon Mechanical Turk’ platform which is used by many researchers. This is where I need your support. This platform requires researchers to pay a remuneration to participants for their contribution. Right now, we plan to conduct at least 320 surveys which would cost us $3 each. You can contribute for this cause and all your contributions would help us add more surveys which would increase the scope and accuracy of our research.
Our results would be important for organizations, NGOs or even governments to make their potential carbon labeling schemes more effective. Effective carbon labeling schemes would add to the many efforts to mitigate climate change by different people using their own different ways.
