Reese Malia’s Journey with CP

Reese a former 26 weeker weighing 1 pound 4 ounce spent her first 133 days of her life fighting in the NICU has turned two! At 19 months old Reese was diagnosed with CP. As her parents and countless hours of research we have found that preemies like Reese that have suffered a grade 4 bilateral brain bleed at an early age are resilient little humans. Reese has been attending physical and occupational therapy regularly with very little progress. Reese has recently been attending MNRI therapies weekly with 1 mini-intensive under her belt and has been making great strides. Therapies like MNRI are what a girl like Reese that has suffered a brain bleed needs.

Reese is also a candidate for the intensive therapy program at the NAPA center. Our hopes are to give Reese all the tools available to get her moving and making her independent as possible! As her parents we have seen the change in Reese with 1 mini-intensive therapy and could only imagen the outcome of subsequent intensives.

The money that is raised through this fundraiser will pay for Reese’s intensive MNRI therapies. The cost of 1 full week of therapy is $2,500. She will be attending a 2 week intensive in October 2021. Along with MNRI therapies Reese will hopefully be attending a 3 week therapy at the NAPA Center in 2022, which cost $5,625 plus the cost of travel. These therapies are unfortunately not covered by insurance and are needed to be paid for out of pocket.

Raising a daughter like Reese is not typical. We are thankful and so blessed to have such a resilient daughter like Reese to teach us the deeper meaning of life.
