The Resistance (Urban Farming)

The Resistance Gardens

My name is Adam Wes. Christ Follower, Husband, Father, Martial Artist, Small Business Owner, and Public School Teacher turned Activist. I am seeking out the best and most effective way to transform the lives of the next generation of Americans in the Black Community and other disadvantaged communities through morality, economic stability, sustainability, health, and culture.

I have long noticed a need for the poor communities to band together and become organized enough to effectively meet the needs of its people.
Up until this point I had been saving my own money to launch this program, but then I realized I could launch a go fund me campaign!

I am raising money in order to begin the first in a chain of Urban Gardens that double as local meeting areas where people can learn about their history, life principals, health, budgeting, farming, interviewing/basic job skills and even entrepreneurship.

The money will be used to purchase a plot of land that has enough space to grow a substantial amount of fruits and vegetables for the local community. In the center of the lot will be a place for people to sit and learn, similar to a outdoor classroom . (If enough funds are raised we will construct a shelter to hold meetings under)
The garden will also be designed to teach people how to grow food for themselves.

Guest speakers will be invited to come and present information vital to the local community. Topics could range from things like how to invest in stocks, a history of minorities in our country, how to live righteously in poverty, or local issues that the community faces.

The plan is to purchase the land in a Houston Metro Area community that could benefit from an urban garden and has the structure in place to support a community effort such as this one.

Labor: Free! (Volunteers and I will do all the labor)

The lot size (or number of lots) will change based on the amount of support I receive from people like you!

The sooner I receive the funds the sooner I can begin the process of purchasing the land. I have already began scouting out neighborhoods and researching the best places to start this campaign. Once the land has been purchased I will start meeting with leaders in the local community to establish a community connection. It is imperative that The Resistance is in constant communication with the community it serves.

All that said my Goal is to have 100% of the funds raised by February 3 but the campaign will stay up through May 17 so that anyone serious about change has the opportunity to give.  The earlier the funds are raised the sooner I can begin searching for an adequate property and begin construction. I want to be set up as the growing season approaches!

If you can't tell this project means the world to me and I won't stop to it has been achieved. I am tired of the band-aids being placed over the problems within our society that do not bring us closer to sustainability. The Resistance is the first step to creating an infrastructure where our communities can thrive and grow without depending on any outside group.
