Steinway Grand Restoration Project

Resonance School of Music is a professional boutique music studio in Sewell, NJ. We have a wonderful family of students who have won awards, gained access to performing arts programs, university conservatories, recorded albums, won competition and have been seen in magazines as well as on T.V and film. Our studio offers competitive rates and student scholarships as well as income based tuition programs.

My vision for Resonance School of Music was created as a result of my own experience. When I was younger, affordable music lessons were not readily available to me or my parents. After leaving my first job as an instructor at a very large (and in my opinion impersonal) music school I made it my personal goal to provide quality, affordable, and readily available music lessons for children as well as adults in the South Jersey area. Starting off small I founded RSOM in a small studio space in the new performing arts center in Glassboro NJ . It was less than a year later that we quickly out grew the space. We needed a larger studio where both children and adults could affordably discover and magnify their talents - a space that would provide classes taught by local music educators who were currently working musicians in their respective fields.

After a short stop over in a mid size studio in Glassboro we finally settled into our dream studio in Sewell NJ in April of 2013. After only two years in our mid sized stop over and our new home our studio began to see significant growth. This past year alone the amount of piano lessons taught on our baby grand piano has increased exponentially. Because of this our current "Pearl River" baby grand was unable to keep up with the speed and musical growth of our students. Unfortunately our baby grand's "action" or the engine of the piano has experienced significant damage due to the increase of piano lessons our studio has seen. My Pearl River "seed" grand piano was not a professionally calibrated piano to begin with and even if fixed the piano would need to be serviced again every few months to continue to operate at all. This is such a major expense that we have been researching our prospects to acquire a better instrument for the last year.

Despite our humble beginnings our students have been winning many awards. Twelve of our students last year passed national piano exams as well as received artist awards. South Jersey stages have been graced with our students over the last few years as well. It's because of their achievements that we need a piano that will provide a real performing experience for our students not just a piano that looks nice. Our studio is in dire need of an instrument that will not only properly train aspiring artists, but guide them along the long path to a successful career in music.

As I started a dialogue with my teachers the need became clear: We need an instrument that will provide our students with the clarity and precision that can help them grow. A new piano of this caliber costs between $88,000-$100,000 however; we were lucky enough to find a vintage professional instrument that costs far less than a new piano. With a substantial down payment we have secured the purchase of a vintage Steinway M class instrument but restoration needs to be completed before the piano can be used in our studio. Unfortunately because we are still a fairly new company, traditional financing has not been available to us thus far. So we are coming to you, our Family, Friends and Community to help us raise the rest of the funds needed to recondition our professional Steinway instrument.

For us to continue to provide our students with a superior lesson program and stay at our current lesson rate, donations/ benefactors are needed to help support this program which we are calling the "Resonance School Steinway Initiative". All funds raised will go to the reconditioning of the piano which include new finish, pin blocks, harp, strings, pedals, and keys. Please help us to continue to inspire young musicians and create beautiful music. For diagrams and pictures of the piano please visit resonanceschoolofmusic.com

Thank you in advance for your support!
