Respect Stanley Peninsula No Wind Turbines
The group Respect Stanley Peninsula No Wind Turbines is a group formed to preserve the historic, cultural and scenic amenity of the Stanley Peninsula in Tasmania. An industrial wind farm is proposed to be built only 4 kilometres from the historic town of Stanley by a company Epuron, who is based in Sydney and will have no long-term interest in the town. Stanley is Tasmania’s top tourist town in 2021 and relies on tourists who come to relax and admire the pristine views and vista of the peninsula climb the unique “Nut” an extinct volcanic plug. The group is not against renewable energy but believes there is a correct place for these industrial developments and the Stanley Peninsula is not the right place. Please help us work as a community to preserve our historic town, protect the properties which are situated only 2-3 kilometres from the wind farm and ensure this unique area is left for future generations to visit and enjoy! Funding will used to cover costs associated with making representations, informing the community and, if required financing appeals to oppose the windfarm. Whilst we do not expect there to be any left-over funds at the end of this project, if there are left over funds they will go back to community. Should this occur we will seek community feedback as to where this would be best spent. We have increased our target to $20,000, in recognition of the groundswell of support and to assist our campaign to seek professional advice and reports in many more diverse areas.
