Cecilia Rawlins' Respite Care costs
Donation protected
Hi, this is Mark Ezzell and I'm raising funds for Cecilia Rawlins' respite care.
Cecilia Rawlins has given so much to us, as a teacher, principal, neighbor and friend, and now we need to return the favor.
Five years ago, Cecilia was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of Parkinson's called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, or PSP, and now requires expensive, around-the-clock care. She is presently receiving much of that care at home, primarily given by her partner Dave Penrose and a small team of caregivers. However, she also needs respite care to assist when her home care is unable.
Less than 0.03% of U.S. residents are afflicted with PSP, which is an accumulation of folded Tau cells in the brain. It affects eye movement, speech fluency, and walking- all of which are increasingly difficult for Cecilia. Fortunately, there is no pain involved at this point, and cognition is not negatively affected. Cecilia remains her regular bright, insightful, sarcastic self.
How can you help?
1) Donate to assist with Cecilia's respite care. The respite care services she receives through Asheville hospice are a life-saver. But it is expensive at $500 per day. I'm in for at least one day- how about you?
2) Please share this on ALL your social media accounts! If we even have a small number of people who Cecilia has impacted through the years give to this fundraiser, we'll easily meet our goal.
Thank you!
