Respite Care for Breker Family
My name is Bri Koop, friend of Michelle and Evan Breker.
As you may or may not know, Owen Breker was diagnosed in the summer of 2020 with grade 3 Ependymoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Although Owen fought long and hard, he is now in his final days.
Because Michelle is a nurse, she has been providing most of Owen's medical care to date. Unfortunately, his condition is now rapidly deteriorating, and they are living moment to moment. Owen is now too weak to be moved into hospital to receive the care he needs, and the family is finding it beyond impossible to focus on providing his medical care as grieving parents.
100% of the funds raised by this initiative will be put towards providing home care in the form of registered nurses (through the company Neighbourhood Nurse). The cost of this service is $75/hour, so the goal of $9,000 is to provide them with 24 hour care for the next five days. I know this is not a small sum, but truly it is an invaluable gift to the Brekers.
Evan and Michelle deserve to spend their son's final moments being his parents.
