Julian Burns
10/13/94 - 12/09/19

The death of a child is indescribably devastating. Robert Burns and Nancy Chapa, parents of Julian Burns, are experiencing the worst thing a parent can endure. Family and friends are asking you to please read below to get a glimpse into who Julian Burns was -- and why the GoFundMe is critical in moving forward with efforts to lay Julian to rest.

Who is Julian Burns:
Julian Burns was already an angel before he finally became one. He was the funniest, nicest and most humble person you could ever meet. He was commonly referred to as the 'light' in so many of our lives. He taught everyone around him to love harder and laugh more. Julian always encouraged people to be themselves, and dance as though EVERY ONE was watching.

He was a fighter and the definition of resiliency. Julian leaves behind 2 brothers(Andy and Niko), a sister (Carly), his long-time girlfriend (Brittany) and their fur-baby (Milo). Julian and Brittany talked about marriage, and having Mexican and Filipino food at their wedding. They spent a wonderful 4 years together, and were able to explore Texas, San Francisco, and even New Orleans.

Many of you would remember Julian as the party favor, the fun-spirited, enthusiastic dancing machine at local football games, school dances, and other communal events from Santa Clarita to Canoga Park.

Julian would want us to cherish his memories, remember his bubbly, bright personality, and continue his legacy by spreading endless positivity, happiness and love.

Julian's Medical Journey:
Julian's journey started when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia at only 18 years old, where the battle for his life began. Over several years, Julian found himself in and out of hospitals for chemotherapy and additional treatments in the coming years.

At the start of this year, he was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus and received surgery to get a VP Shunt and a Omya reservoir in his head. That illness caused him to lose majority of his eyesight for the greater part of 2019.  There were even times where he could not even see himself in the mirror.. This was in May and June, and then it slowly got better.

He fell ill with pneumonia in July where he was on a ventilator in ICU for a week. Unfortunately, this marked the beginning of endless days and nights in the hospital.

In September, Julian received his Car-T cell treatment --a type of treatment in which a patient's immune system cells are changed in the lab so they are able to attack cancer cells. Doctors said the treatment worked and he was in remission, however he had terrible side effects that caused him to have seizures and a small brain bleed in his head. He had a point where he couldn't remember the people around him but he overcame that bump.

Most recently, Julian got an unknown severe internal infection, and doctors were unable to identify the source. They administered steroids, antibiotics, and everything else they could do.. But unfortunately, he developed sepsis shortly after, ultimately being hooked up to life support before taking his final breath on December 9th, 2019.

Funds allocated for:
The family is devastated by Julian's passing at the young age of 25.
We are currently asking for donations to help cover the costs. We need to raise at least $12,000.
They do not have the funds to cover basic funeral expenses, and every donation will be put toward giving Julian the celebration of life he deserves.

Although you are not with us in this physical world, you will ALWAYS be in our hearts. #RIPJuliansBurns
