Rest in Paradise Popo, from your Granddaughters

On Friday evening of December 27, 2024, my grandmother was walking home from our neighborhood Costco when she was fatally struck by a driver—we later learned that she was graced with an instant death though her walker with wheels was destroyed. Further details are not yet publicly available due to the legal implications of this awful accident.

Three decades ago, Lin You Mei immigrated to California from her home countries of China&Vietnam to support our family’s pursuit of the American Dream. She was a great-grandmother of two, a grandmother of five, and a mother of three. You Mei loved to sing Chinese folk songs, spend time with our family dog (Pugly the Pug), dance with the Asian grannies at the local park, and exercise by going around town with her iconic walker. Our popo had so much life in her that continues to inspire us.

Our family continues to navigate this horrible sudden grief and would dearly appreciate any form of support. We are especially grateful to have celebrated our final Christmas together with her just days prior.
