Rest in Peace our Friend Yurii Vakhniak

Dear friends,

My name is Alex. Through my work, I get to know a lot of amazing people. I had the pleasure of becoming friends with Yurii Vakhniak. He was one of the most pleasant, optimistic, happy and cheerful people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He came to the USA as a result of the war in Ukraine to make a better life for himself and his family.

Like many of our Eastern European brothers and sisters, he found work in the transportation industry. He began working as a car hauler so that he could provide for his family and to grow in this country. He had a great circle of friends and a loving family.

This morning I received a call from his closest friend Roman who broke the horrible news to me.

On Monday evening (03/13/2023) Yurii was loading the last car he picked up from Frontline Motors in Clayton, North Carolina - He was struck and killed by a drunk driver. The drunk driver is being charged with driving under the influence for the 3rd time this year.

Yurii would have finished loading the last car onto his 3-car hauler and been on his way to Tenessee to make a delivery if this repeat drunk driver would have only chosen not to drive that day.

Yurii didn't get to realize his American dream and left behind a wife (Ivanka) and two children (Anastasia & Vova).

Because Yurii was growing his business and investing in it, he didn't leave money behind for this tragic event.

Please help me raise money for his funeral and memorial service as well as help his family survive in the US alone without their man of the house, provider, father, and husband.

Every penny which is raised by this fundraiser will go to pay for Yurri's funeral arrangements and to help his family live without him.

If possible, his family would like to transport his body back to Ukraine to be buried.

Yurii is gone, but his memory will be in our hearts forever.
