restart Piratas do pau upcycling&training center
Donation protected
hello everybody, my name is Ab Oosterwaal and I am the founder of upcycling brand Piratas do Pau in Maputo Mozambique, which i started 15 years ago to create jobs for local youth and reuse materials to give an local alternative to imported products. we make products mainly furniture and lighting from reclaimed materials by training local youth in different disciplines and providing them with fair jobs. With our work, we try to have a positive social and environmental impact in Mozambique while making unique quality products from materials that normally would end up on a dump or scrapyard while providing training and fair jobs for 36 young people in Maputo. Unfortunately due to the covid years followed by an ischemic stroke (AVC) that I suffered last year, leaving me paralyzed on my left side, I had to close the upcycling and training center, resulting in my team losing their jobs. As we have built a big following over the years as a brand that provides quality unique products the request for furniture keeps on coming in and I would love to restart our production, rehire my team of 30 + people and start the training activities to enlarge our positive social and environmental impact. For this, I need your help. As my own funds have been depleted by my medical bills. Im doing good but hate that my personal misfortune ends up being the reason for my team losing their income and for our positive impact in Mozambiquestopping. Any small donation would help us to achieve restarting production, and rehire our 30+ people team for the next 12 months and train another 15 craftsmen/women. I will not take a salary myself. so the money will be used exclusively for training and hiring of local Mozambican staff. thank you for helping us continuing having a positive social and environmental impact in Mozambique.
