Restore and update Memere and Pepere's Headstone
Donación protegida
Hi all. This is Phil Dahlgren.
We are raising money to cover the repair and updating of Memere's and Pepere's headstone in Notre Dame Cemetery. The history of the grave site is as follows.
The stone and 6 plots were purchased in 1909 by Amedee Barcelou when his wife Albina died. Pepere married their daughter Adrienne in 1919 and she died in 1925. Amedee died in 1951. Their names are on the headstone as well as Memere and Pepere. The names that are missing are Constance, who died in 1925, and Pepere's father Francis who died in 1942. We are adding their names and dates as well as Lamoureux to the base opposite Barcelou. These additions cost $1100. The stone needs to be reset. The stone's base is bad and the three parts are not connected. The stone will be dismantled, a new foundation will be poured by the cemetery, and then reassembled by Notre Dame Memorials. These repairs cost $1700.
Pepere and his first wife Adrienne (mother of Roland, Earl, and Constance) are in plot #1. Memere (mother of Claire, Edna, Richard, and Bernard) and Constance are in plot #2. Pepere's father Francis is in plot #3. Plot #4 is empty. Amedee Barcelou is in plot #5. Albina Chaput Barcelou is in plot #6. The Barcelou's son Orila, who died in 1896 before the plots were purchased, has his name and dates on the stone but he is buried elsewhere.
Thus the total cost is $2800. I have paid this in full and I am requesting donations from the grandchildren and great grandchildren, if they would like to help, to cover this. If we exceed the $2800 that excess will be donated to Alzheimer research because I believe that is what Pepere had before it was called that.
