Restore Dwindling Coral from Destructive Tin Mine

Tax deductible
The image above shows the devastating impact of tin mining waste on Belitung's precious coral reefs. These once vibrant ecosystems, essential for marine life, are now smothered and dying.

Belitung Island, nestled in the heart of Indonesia, is a marine paradise facing silent yet severe threats. Unlike the well-publicized struggles of the Great Barrier Reef or Chesapeake Bay, Belitung's plight remains underrepresented in global conservation efforts. This island, rich in biodiversity, is home to vibrant coral reefs and marine life that are now at risk from tin mining.

The comparison is stark. The Great Barrier Reef, with its extensive government-funded restoration projects, or the Chesapeake Bay's rigorous pollution control measures, have received global attention and resources. Meanwhile, Belitung grapples with sedimentation from mining thats covering coral reefs in the seabed, and the dire impacts of climate change largely on its own.

The Situation is Critical.
People are migrating out of the Belitung bc there is no: land to farm, cant fish no fish due to no coral, river contaminated from mining, miners (not much area avail anymore). Threatened of community livelihood.

Land-based tin mines have already ravaged Belitung land, leaving behind a lunar wasteland. Now, the miners turn their hungry dredges towards the very heart of the island's lifeblood – the coral reefs. This insatiable search for tin suffocates these vibrant ecosystems with sediment, a slow, silent killer.

The consequences are dire. Lush coral gardens, once teeming with marine life, are fading to ghostly white graveyards. This destruction isn't just a cosmetic blemish; it's a death sentence.

The impact goes beyond aesthetics. Local fishermen, who relied on the bounty of the reefs, now face dwindling catches. The vibrant tapestry of marine life that sustained them is being ripped apart, jeopardizing their way of life and the island's food security.

Meet Hardi, Our Local Champion

At the heart of our mission is Hardi, a dedicated local conservationist who has been tirelessly working to protect Belitung's marine life using his own personal finance. Hardi's passion for ocean conservation inspires us all, and we are committed to supporting his efforts with our expert team and resources.

Our Initiatives
1. Coral Reef Replantation

We aim to replant damaged coral reefs, creating new habitats for marine life.
Coral reefs are crucial for biodiversity, supporting countless species and protecting coastal areas from erosion.

2. Sea Turtle Release Program

We will hatch and release sea turtles , giving them a fighting chance to thrive.
Sea turtles play a vital role in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems.

3. Community Stewardship Program
Educating the local community on waste management to reduce pollution.
Raising awareness about climate change and its impact on marine life.
Teaching sustainable practices to ensure long-term conservation efforts.

WHY We Need Your Help

We have set a goal to raise $25,000 to fund these crucial initiatives. Your donation will directly support:
  • Coral Reef Restoration Projects - 2000 coral seeds to cover 2000 sqft seabed.
  • Sea Turtle Hatchling's and Save & Release Programs - 500 baby sea turtles.

How You Can Make a Difference
Every dollar you donate brings us closer to revitalizing Belitung Island's marine life. Your support will not only help restore coral reefs and save turtles but also empower the local community with the knowledge and tools to protect their environment.

Join Us in Making a Change
Belitung Island's future is in our hands. With your generosity, we can turn the tide for this beautiful marine paradise. Please donate today and be a part of this vital mission to protect and preserve our oceans for generations to come.
