Restore Castle Cary Millennium Woodland
Donation protected
The Millennium Woodland in Castle Cary, Somerset was recently vandalised on two consecutive nights. Much time and effort has been spent nurturing the woodland. The benches were treated. Birdboxes were erected thanks to the kindness of locals. Most had a brass plaque on them in remembrance of a loved one. Fallen trees and branches from the high winds over the Christmas period last year were gathered and removed. Over time everything came together and it became a beautiful, pristine and much loved little woodland. With the arrival of spring, birds nested in the boxes, nurtured their young who grew, fledged and took to the sky. Everything was perfect.
But sadly this was all ruined. A bench was destroyed, birdboxes were pulled down, branches broken and litter left everywhere.
Locals are pulling together to try and restore this place of beauty and tranquility, but support is needed to replace those things that were damaged beyond repair.
