Gallatin Community Center
Donation protected
We are the Friends of Gallatin, a 501c3 not-for -profit, volunteer organization. We are composed of 13 women who live, work and raise our families in Gallatin.
After many years of watching this building rapidly decline, we were finally able to take ownership of this building 6 months ago. We have spent that time making sure the building is stable (ok for now, but not for much longer), meeting with structural engineers, contractors, architects and also meeting with community members to form the best plan for this building.
Our plan is to primarily house a community center that will be at the heart of our square and serve our community from ages 1 to 101.
The Gallatin Community Center will have:
A large and modern venue space, adaptable to a variety of gatherings
Workshops, clubs, receptions, meetings, Main Street events
A full catering kitchen that meets Health Department standards
Available for on-site catering and available to rent for cottage kitchen small businesses
A space aimed at improving the lives of our youngest citizens
Dedicated preK and early elementary resource and programming space (meals, after-school help, lessons, clubs, potential 3CP/libary/school district(s) partnerships)
The building has been evaluated by several professionals, all of them specialists in old buildings just like this one.
The phased plan is as follows:
Phase 1: Demo & removal of unusable space, replacement of entire roof with foam core and sealed membrane, fill basement and cap with cement for stabilization and to provide durable flooring surface, windows
Phase 2: Tuck pointing, facade, storefront window and entry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical interior walls, lighting, restrooms
Phase 3: New addition, commercial kitchen, outdoor patio space
Phase 4: Second story renovation (numerous possibilities still being explored)
Target date for completion: Fall 2024
Estimated cost $800,000 - $1,000,000
Primary funding sources are community entities and individuals like you
In-kind donations of labor and material (cement finishing, spray foam insulation, roofing labor, etc)
Select naming opportunities for large donors of 100K+ are available
Donor wall will be part of the finished interior space
“Matching” proposals- challenges welcome!
Applications for larger multi-year grants are in-process in coordination with Bright Futures Gallatin, 3CP, the City of Gallatin, and Main Street Missouri organizations
It is basically now or never for this building. Will we be a community that preserves a piece of our heritage on our square and leaves a legacy for our children’s children.
