Restore Hope for a Family and Their Home

We are a family who live in Waianae, Hawaii. We love animals and we are supporting a rescue organization as a foster family.

On Aug 17, 2024, our house caught fire. At the moment, we were not home but our neighbor realized the smoke alarm, she called 911 to get help.

I immediately mentioned we have our beloved pets inside the house and asked if anyone can save them. Unfortunately, when we came back home, we found out the pets we were keeping inside, 4 cats and 3 dogs (3 fluffy guys on the cover photo), didn’t make it.

We honestly don’t know how we can go through this… I know we need to move forward, but it’s just so hard.

The damage to the house is mainly around the kitchen/living area but smoke and water damage is pretty much everywhere.

Not only our pets, we have 2 elementary school kids who are suffering through this hard time. They lost their brothers and sisters. For us, they were not just pets but family.

I am trying to follow up with the insurance company, cleaning, emotional support with all the supports we are getting from friends and neighbors, but honestly, I still feel lost.

Both my husband and I are from Japan. We don’t have family other than our kids.

We greatly appreciate all the wonderful support from our friends and neighbors.
