As a member of the board and dedicated community advocate for the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, I and other board members are reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support.
Recently, the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation suffered a devastating loss—one of their trailers, carrying 17 adaptive wheelchairs, two specialized basketball nets, tools, and vital equipment for our wheelchair basketball program, was stolen from their warehouse. Despite their best security efforts, thieves cut through locks and fencing, taking away more than just equipment—they took away an opportunity for our kids to play, compete, and thrive.
The estimated loss is over $200,000, and while we are working with law enforcement and insurance, the reality is that our kids are now without the equipment they need to continue their sport. Wheelchair basketball is more than a game—it’s a lifeline for these athletes, providing confidence, camaraderie, and independence.
But if there’s one thing we know, it’s that New Mexicans show up for each other in times of need. We have an incredible, generous, and resilient community, and together, we can make a difference.
How You Can Help:
Donate to this GoFundMe or Donate Directly to the Foundation - Every contribution brings us closer to getting our kids back in the game.
Share – Help us spread the word and bring awareness to this urgent need.
Support Our Athletes – Let’s show them that their community stands with them.
While this loss is heartbreaking, we are committed to rebuilding.
We believe in the power of community, and the power of giving. With your support, we can replace this stolen equipment, rebuild this program, and ensure that no child misses out on the opportunity to play, grow, and succeed.
Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can turn this loss into a story of resilience, hope, and community strength.
