Restore John's Community Haven After Hurricane

Hello, my name is Maureen and I have a homestead in the mountains I built from ground up. I had never built anything nor lived off grid before. I was already in survival mode fleeing a bad situation. In the beginning of my venture I met John Russo who has had his homestead for many many years along the river. He greeted me and invited me to see his property and I was amazed at all of his workshops, gardens, chicken coops and buildings he’s built by himself over the years. He has lived alone with barely any family left and grows all edible foods in his gardens and loves to greet families coming down the river. He has designed his property like a public park, with picnic tables, a playground and a public bathroom for anyone- stranger or neighbor to stop and take a break, have a meal or to pick fruits and vegetables from his trees and plants. Unfortunately tragedy and disaster hit and hurricane Helene claimed his beautiful home he dedicated to the public. He almost did not evacuate in time and everything he’s built for decades has been submerged under the powerful waters of the flooding river. He is overall okay and has a positive outlook to go back to his land but he is in shock. I walked miles the next morning to find him in the river looking for parts of his home so he can put it back together, refusing to believe it has been swept away by currents of water and crashing into trees and breaking to pieces. I would just like him to have a home again, whether it’s a small camper or a shed home. He is 87 years old and very positive about growing and building again. I will do everything in my power to clean one of the biggest messes I have ever cleaned up in my entire life by myself, but John needs a home.. somewhere to lay his head so he can welcome the community as their kayaking or canoeing or fishing and to share his bountiful gardens with everyone he crosses paths with. He is a fellow homesteader, friend and neighbor and the donations will be used for basic housing since he is currently homeless.
