Introduction: Calling All Earth Lovers!
Meet Kurrebo—a hidden jewel nestled in the heart of southern Sweden. Imagine historical buildings, a cozy bed & breakfast, and 19 hectares of lush farmland hugging the serene shores of Lake Åsnen:
Sounds idyllic, right? But there’s a twist: Kurrebo’s soil harbors a secret—a toxic one!
The DDT Dilemma: DDT contamination has cast a shadow over Kurrebo. After rigorous soil testing, our friends discovered the unwelcome truth: DDT had infiltrated a significant portion of their beloved land.
Our Mission: We’re on a mission to reclaim Kurrebo! But it’s not just about this charming farm—it’s about a global movement. Our vision? Start local, go global with a new bioremediation method!
Bioremediation Unleashed! Our secret weapon? A new groundbreaking, 100% natural bioremediation method. In the lab, it’s already shown remarkable promise, turbocharging the breakdown of harmful substances like DDT. It’s llike Mother Nature on steroids!
Why You Matter: By supporting our campaign, you’re not just saving Kurrebo—you’re also helping to pioneer a new solution with the potential to heal contaminated soil on farms worldwide. Let’s heal the world, one field at a time.
Join Us and Donate Today: Every little bit helps! Spread the Word: Share our campaign far and wide. We can be the Change: Together, we can restore Kurrebo and be an inspiration to others who long for a healthier planet. ❤️
It’s not just about Kurrebo; it’s about our shared home, the world! Let’s break down toxins, bring the change and build a brighter future!
Background:
I moved to Sweden a couple of years ago, and became good friends with Søren and Pavlína, the owners of a wonderful vegetarian café and restaurant called “Mormors Bakeri":
A couple of years ago, they participated in a mail-in campaign and won the rights to develop Kurrebo, a historic farm (also not far from here), located in Urshult, southern Sweden. Building upon what was already there, my friends—along with the help of many eager volunteers—got to work setting up a farm restaurant and bakery, called “Farfars Bakeri” that also serves delicious vegetarian food (along with vegan and gluten-free options):
They also set up a plant nursery, and started doing some organic farming there as well.
However, that's when soil testing so that they could expand the organic farm found that some of the land had previously been contaminated with DDT!
…which is sad:
DDT Contamination
DDT (Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, a.k.a. 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis [p-chlorophenyl]ethane) a chemical that was once widely used to kill mosquitos remoce other insects, was also sprayed liberally on millions of farms, eventually becoming a major environmental issue worldwide.
Globally, there are now over one million fields known to be contaminated with DDT. However, it’s estimated that only about 10% of fields with DDT contamination have ever been tested and verified. That's because many land owners avoid testing for such contamination (believing that "no news is good news") which is what leads to so much of it being underreported.
So even though it has been proven to be harmful to humans, DDT is STILL being used in some parts of the world (although no longer in the US nor in Europe). But what this all means is that the need for soil remediation is huge and probably extends to well over 10 million fields globally!
The GOOD NEWS is that there are ways to remediate the DDT, breaking it down to a state where it is no longer harmful. And the best part is that this NEW organic method that our friends plan to use is one that has recently been developed and is 100% natural. In the lab, it has been shown to speed up the biological breakdown of harmful substances like DDT in soil. And, based on very promising initial studies, it has been proven to shorten the half-life of DDT by over 10x, and appears to also have a similar effect on mineral oil and similar petro-based soil toxins as well.
Why Donate?
Donations to this campaign will go to Søren and Pavlína who will use the funds to pay for the soil remediation project. By funding this project, you're not only helping them restore this beautiful farm, but also supporting and helping them promote the development of this new organic soil bioremediation method that holds so much potential to help millions of farms worldwide—especially once it’s been dem to be effective, eco-friendly, and low-cost.
Talk about a win-win situation!
So let’s start local, and go global!
If you have questions and would like to learn more about this campaign or the bioremediation process, please feel free to reach out to me or Søren and/or Pavlína.
Many thanks!
