Help us send Mitchell to Germany to restore his eyesight!

 

Mitchell has been living with a rare retinal disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa that progressively affects the ability of his retinal cells to respond to light and has caused him to slowly go blind.

Up until now, he's been told nothing can be done. Slowly going blind is inevitable and those were just the cards he was dealt. That doesn't mean he, nor his family, have lost hope though. We've always believed there would be some procedure out there that will change his life. 

Recently that miracle procedure has been found... in Berlin Germany.

 

As his mother, Mitchell continually amazes myself and others. He has been given the gift of special awareness and memorizes everything he encounters. Hand him something and he can’t see it, but he can cook and care for himself. He can’t see his wallet on the counter in front of him but he knows which shirt can be worn with which pants. He kneels to the floor, lays out his dog leash, and holds out his hands. Keiko walks silently up to him and Mitch clips him in.

 

Mitch has memorized his steps to work and the sound of the traffic to know when it’s safe to cross the street. He senses curbs and people walking toward him. He’s continued his job at Costco with a work variation that has benefited him and his co-workers.

 

However, with all this inner vision, he misses so much and is held back by everything he cannot do. Like excel at work, drive a car and see a movie again. He desperately and deliberately has not accepted this state of life and insists God can heal him. So, when the idea of going to Berlin, Germany was introduced to him it all made sense.
