Help Lunacare Cymru Rewild Pont-y-Pandy Community Woodland

About the Project

Pont-y-Pandy Woodlands needs our help, and together we can bring nature back to this cherished corner of Caerphilly. Lunacare Cymru is continuing the rewilding project aimed at restoring these woodlands to their natural, thriving state – and we need your support to make it happen. Our goal is to raise donations to fund this community-led effort, which will directly benefit local wildlife and transform the area into a safe, green space for everyone. A few years ago, we made a heartfelt first attempt to rewild Pont-y-Pandy Woodlands. Volunteers and neighbors rallied together and achieved incredible results. In fact, they removed over 3,400 kg of litter and waste from the forest floor​ cleared overgrown pathways, and watched wildlife begin to return. That initial effort showed us the land’s amazing potential and the passion of our community. Now, armed with updated research and environmental data from recent surveys, we are ready to continue what we started. This is our chance to ensure Pont-y-Pandy Woodlands will flourish for generations to come.

This project is for the community, by the community. Pont-y-Pandy Woodlands sits right in our backyard, and turning it into a safer, greener, more inclusive space is a goal we can all share. During the pandemic, these woods became a refuge for those seeking fresh air and peace. Neighbors of all ages pitched in with litter picks, showing the power of community spirit and pride in our local environment. By working side by side, we’re not just restoring a woodland we’re strengthening our community bonds. Our goal is truly be a space everyone can enjoy and be proud of.
