Restore Taylor's Mobility: Fund Her Knee Surgery
Donation protected
I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my wife Taylor, who needs a highly specialized knee surgery next year. Taylor has severe osteoarthritis in her knee due to a bone deformity, and has been undergoing sporadic pain management treatments and even minor surgery for the last 10 years. Her condition and the pain she deals with daily have gotten consistently worse over time, and will continue to do so without this procedure. She needs a femoral and tibial osteotomy, which is a major reconstructive surgery, to fix the alignment of her leg.
Because this is a specialized procedure, insurance doesn't cover much, but our goal is to raise the money needed for her surgery by mid-2025.
Our out-of-pocket expenses are expected to be between $40,000-$50,000 after insurance, including a $33,000 down payment required before we can even make the surgery appointment. We have to travel to New York for the surgery since only a handful of doctors specialize in this procedure. Other expenses will include accommodations for our family and pets during recovery (as our house has stairs, so we will have to relocate), in-home health care, and physical therapy.
Taylor will be expected to use a wheelchair and walker for the first six weeks after surgery, and then will use crutches in the coming months while she works through weight progression physical therapy exercises. Any money we receive will go towards the procedure itself as well as recovery expenses.
Any amount helps, and whether or not you're able to contribute, we'd appreciate sharing our fundraiser far and wide. Thank you!
