Support the Joiner Family through this rough time

Donation protected
The Joiner family home holds a special place in the heart of our community. It was the first home purchased by a young man from Kosciusko, Mississippi, who sought to escape the harsh realities of racism in the South. In search of a better life, Joe joined the army and eventually made his way to Altadena, California, to be closer to his older siblings. There, he met Sherry Joiner, a remarkable woman who has dedicated over 35 years to the Pasadena Unified School District and is lovingly known by many Muir alumni as Mrs. J.

Together, they raised three wonderful children and welcomed four grandchildren into their lives, creating countless memories in a home filled with love, laughter, and delicious meals. Joe spent his final days in this cherished home, which has always been a gathering place for family and friends.

Now, we have the opportunity to support Mrs. J and her family with needs that might not be fully covered by other sources of aid.

Let’s come together to ensure she can continue to enjoy her golden years surrounded by the warmth and spirit of her family's legacy. Your help can make a difference in preserving this beautiful part of their story.
