Restore the Nine - 9 Mile Creek, Bloomington, MN
Donation protected
Central Park is a beautiful urban oasis in Bloomington, MN. It is home to numerous species of plants and animals, including some that are threatened or endangered. It is one of Minnesota's sites of high biodiversity significance. Unfortunately, this natural habitat is at risk.
In 2023, voters approved a local sales tax of $20 million to fund a park renewal project. The city is considering widening existing pedestrian trails and adding paved bike paths along Nine Mile Creek, which will involve cutting down trees, removing native vegetation, and destroying wildlife habitat.
Restore the Nine is a local grassroots organization formed to safeguard Central Park's natural woodlands, wetlands, prairies, and creek. The group seeks to rally residents to advocate for spending tax dollars on preserving and restoring this essential ecosystem instead of widening paths and adding pavement.
The city is designing park plans now. If our group wants to be effective, we must begin work immediately. Our ability to protect, maintain, and restore the beauty and biodiversity of Central Park and Nine Mile Creek is dependent on financial support. Therefore, I started this personal GoFundMe campaign to request donations for Restore the Nine. 100% of donations will go toward the group's expenses, such as publicity and communication costs, office and project supplies, online tools, printing and copying. The funds are needed for the entire two-year renewal process.
Thank you for spreading the word and helping save this unique nature oasis.
