Restoring Our Lady of Guadalupe's Viet Nam Memorial

Donation protected
During the Vietnam War, Our Lady of Guadalupe church in South Chicago lost a total of 12 young men, more than any other parish in our nation. To remember and honor those brave soldiers, 54 years ago a headstone was erected and later a mural painted. You can see the emotional beauty of the mural in this picture. The portraits of those 12 soldiers adorn the top of the mural, and the names of every soldier lost in Vietnam are also listed.

The building on which this mural was painted is in need of tuckpointing, and the mural will have to be restored after. Home Depot has committed to donate $25,000 in material to help our effort. We are raising money to restore the mural to its original grandeur and its significance to the families and community.

Please give what you can and share our site and story.
