Making a difference starts with just one person. Will you be that one person? The Friends of the Rising Sun Inn, is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization devoted to the preservation and maintenance of the Historic Rising Sun Inn, Crownsville, Maryland. The Rising Sun Inn was first restored 100 years ago by a dedicated group of local women committed to patriotism, education, and historic preservation. Today, the Rising Sun Inn needs your help! The Inn is in need of some high dollar repairs, and your support is desperately needed and deeply appreciated. Our most pressing issue is the replacement of a failing 100-year old septic system that is currently in progress, followed by the cedar roof and the HVAC system.
The Inn, built circa 1753, is located on the famed Washington Rochambeau Revolutionary Route and National Historic Trail. Over the past 271 years the Inn has been a private residence, a public tavern and stagecoach stop, a community meeting hall, a tea house, a Red Cross wartime work center, and a soldier's recreation center. Today, the Rising Sun Inn is an historic house museum providing public tours, educational programming.
