Retired Officer Mark Figueroa #6932

As a police officer I had the privilege of working with amazing people who were selfless, compassionate, humble and dedicated to public service. People willing to risk their lives to save a stranger or risk their career to do what is morally right. Officers are great at helping others but often fall short when it comes to helping fellow brothers and sisters who have retired and fallen on hard times.
Retired Police Officer Mark Figeroa #6932 was one of those individuals who truly went out of his way to help others. Mark’s career was defined by his passion to help others, his work ethic, and his love of family. If anything, Mark’s drive to work was so strong it became a fault. Working between 70 and 80 hours a week in law enforcement, for 20 years, will take a toll on anyone.
Mark retired from the Phoenix police department in 2018 after an honorable 20-year career. Just five years into retirement Mark is disabled and fighting to keep food on the table and his family in a home. Six months ago, Mark developed a blister on his right foot. The blister became infected, and doctors were forced to amputate some of his toes. Unfortunately, doctors were unable to stop the fast-spreading infection and were forced to amputate Mark’s right leg below the knee. Out of work, with no insurance, Mark and his family are facing a real risk of becoming homeless.
I’m writing this because I believe it’s important we take care of a retired officer who dedicated his life to serving the community. Mark went out of his way to help others, and now he needs help keeping a roof over his family’s head, the lights on, and food on the table. Being he has no health insurance; Mark also needs help with medical expenses and paying for a prosthetic so he can get back to work. Any assistance will go a long way.
Thank you.
