Retired Police Canine Needs Your Help

Donation protected
With great sadness, the Fullerton Police Canine Association (FPCA) announces that one of its recently retired K-9s, K-9 Titan, will undergo cancer treatment. The FPCA is dedicated to the health and longevity of all retired Fullerton Police K-9s. We are seeking donations to assist in providing cancer treatment for our newest retired canine.

The FPCA was founded in 2018 with the purpose of caring for retired Fullerton Police Canines, enhancing training, and providing the necessary equipment for the success of Fullerton Police's K-9 program. The FPCA aims to provide all our retired K-9s with the most comfortable, well-deserved retirement after giving so many years of their lives to ensure the safety of our community. FPCA is a state and federally-recognized nonprofit organization (TAX ID #83-0904458).

Here is a summary of K9 Titan's dedication to the City of Fullerton's residents:

In October 2017, the Fullerton Police Department introduced its newest police dog, K-9 Titan. At the time, Titan, a Belgian Malinois, was just two years old and dual-trained in apprehension and narcotic detection. The EBELL Club of Fullerton generously donated funds for the purchase of Titan. Titans' namesake comes from the Cal State University Fullerton- Titans.

During his career, Titan had over 700 deployments, including hundreds of pounds of narcotics seized, hundreds of thousands of dollars related to narcotic transactions seized, over 150 surrenders, and numerous felony apprehensions. When Titan was not fighting crime, he was an ambassador for the Fullerton Police Department. He has participated in community programs such as the OC Grip and National Night Out, as well as other presentations and demonstrations for Fullerton's Citizen Police Academy, Cookies and Canines, Fullerton's annual open house, and both the Orange County and Fullerton Police Canine Associations.

In January 2024, Titan attended his annual veterinarian appointment. During this appointment, the doctor located a mass in his neck. Further tests revealed a cancerous mass near his thyroid. On February 1st, Titan's doctor performed surgery to remove the cancerous mass. Ultimately, the doctor removed the mass and one of Titan's thyroids.

Titan recovered nicely; however, the doctor believes Titan still has cancerous cells in the surrounding tissue. To ensure Titan would be given the best opportunity of successful treatment and a long, well-deserved retirement, it was decided that Titan would retire a few months earlier than initially planned.

On March 5th, Titan officially retired after seven years of dedicated service to Fullerton PD and the Fullerton community. Titan and his handler were an incredible asset to the Fullerton Police Department. Their partnership proved to be a bond that honed both of their skills as police officers and a canine team. After an outstanding career as a Fullerton Police K-9, Titan retired with his handler, Corporal Green, and his family.

Due to Titan's age and overall health, the doctor believes Titan would benefit from undergoing cancer treatment. This was an easy decision for his handler, who decided to proceed with additional treatment to rid the cancer cells in the surrounding tissue. Titan is scheduled to begin an iodine radiation treatment, which is set to start on April 8th. He will remain in the hospital for two weeks while receiving treatment.

We are reaching out to our community asking for your support to help us provide the best possible care for Titan. Your generous donations will go directly to our nonprofit the Fullerton Police Canine Association to help cover his medical expenses, ensuring that he receives the treatment he needs to overcome this illness.
