¿De qué se trata?

La hermana Aura Lolita Chávez Ixcaquic es una reconocida activista y referente a nivel mundial de la lucha por preservar los bienes naturales; pues como ella lo dice para su pueblo Maya K’iche’ la naturaleza está conectada con todos los caminos de la red de la vida. Lolita ha vivido en el exilio desde 2017, cuando tuvo que abandonar Ixim Ulew - mal llamado Guatemala - tras sufrir criminalización y varios intentos de asesinato por su activismo social y su rol como defensora y lideresa comunitaria.

Lolita fue atacada, perseguida, estigmatizada y judicializada por decenas de causas planteadas en su contra por denunciar a empresas transnacionales y estructuras de poder dentro del Estado de Guatemala, buscando detener la lucha por la defensa del territorio y la defensa de la red de la vida, hecha como parte del Consejo de Pueblos k’iche’s (CPK). Los atentados contra su vida y la judicialización sacaron a Lolita del territorio K’iche’. A pesar de ello Lolita no se separa de las luchas, sigue denunciando violaciones a los derechos de los pueblos originarios, femicidios y abusos contra las feminidades de los pueblos. Con la lucha de los pueblos en Ixim Ulew - mal llamado Guatemala - que lograron sacar al mal gobierno en 2024, también se ha logrado la desjudicialización de Lolita.

Una caravana de retorno comunitario

¡Es hora de que Lolita vuelva a Ixim Ulew y queremos acompañarla en su retorno! Como Feministas de Abya Yala convocamos que sea un retorno comunitario, colectivo; juntas, juntos, juntes, para retornar a la comunidad como lucha autonoma y para seguir denunciando el exilio, expulsión y persecución que hace el sistema patriarcal colonial extractivista y racista escarmentando a los pueblos sobre el cuerpo de las mujeres en la defensa del territorio y la vida.

¿Para qué necesitamos sus donaciones?

La ruta de retorno vinculado a la realización de procesos asamblearios en cuatro territorios de Abya Yala (Ciudad de Mexico, Chiapas, Honduras, Ixim Ulew) está prevista para finales de junio / comienzo de julio 2024.

El objetivo es de realizar la caravana con mínimo 10 compañeras defensoras de la vida, comunicadoras y tejedoras de arte que acuerparán el ingreso de Lolita Chávez a su territorio, que saldrán desde sus territorios en Abya Yala. Se necesita resolver el transporte desde sus territorios, alojamiento y alimentación en el trayecto de los territorios asamblearios. Se cuenta unos 1000-2000€ por persona participando, dependiendo de su lugar de origen. ¡Entre más donaciones recaudemos, mejor acompañada podrá volver Lolita a su territorio y más impresionante será la campaña! Además del crowdfunding, contamos con el apoyo de organizaciones solidarias en diferentes países europeos.

Community return of Lolita Chávez Ixcaquic to Ixim Ulew

What is it about?

Aura Lolita Chávez Ixcaquic is a recognized activist and worldwide referent in the struggle to preserve natural assets. For her Maya K'iche' people, nature is connected to all the paths of the web of life, as she puts it. Lolita has lived in exile since 2017, when she had to leave Ixim Ulew - misnamed Guatemala - after suffering criminalization and several assassination attempts for her social activism and her role as a defender and community leader.

Lolita was attacked, persecuted, stigmatized and prosecuted in dozens of cases brought against her for denouncing transnational companies and power structures within the State of Guatemala, seeking to stop the struggle for the defense of the territory and the defense of the web of life as part of the Council of K'iche's Peoples (CPK). Attempts on her life and the judicialization took Lolita out of the K'iche' territory. Despite this, Lolita does not separate herself from the struggles, she continues to denounce violations of the rights of indigenous peoples, femicides and abuses against the femininity of the peoples. With the struggle of the peoples in Ixim Ulew - misnamed Guatemala - who managed to remove the bad government in 2024, Lolita has also been de-judicialized.

A community return caravan

It is time for Lolita to return to Ixim Ulew and we want to accompany her on her journey! As Feminists of Abya Yala we call for a communal, collective return; together, to return to the community as an autonomous struggle and to continue denouncing the exile, expulsion and persecution that the patriarchal colonial, extractivist and racist patriarchal system carries out by punishing the people over the bodies of women in the defense of territory and life.

Why do we need your donations?

The return route linked to the realization of assembly processes in four territories of Abya Yala (Mexico City, Chiapas, Honduras, Ixim Ulew) is scheduled for the end of June / beginning of July 2024.

The objective is to carry out the caravan with a minimum of 10 women defenders, communicators and art weavers who will accompany Lolita Chavez's entrance to her territory and who will start from their own territories in Abya Yala. It is necessary to arrange transportation from their territories as well as lodging and food on the way to the assembly territories. The more donations we raise, the better accompanied Lolita will be able to return to her territory and the more impressive the campaign will be!
