Return to my Yanomami Homeland
Tax deductible
I and The Good Project are preparing for a return expedition to the Yanomami and my village of Irokai-teri. We need to raise $7,000 by August 18th in order to cover the vast array of expenses involved in traveling to the deepest parts of Venezuela's Amazon rain forest. I will be spending roughly three months, essentially cut off from the outside world, in Yanomami territory and need to acquire necessary:
-supplies
-medicines
-food
-trade goods for the Yanomami
-fuel (gasoline and oil)
-air and fluvial transportation
During my time with the Yanomami, I will continue to learn the language, study the culture, hunt, gather, garden, and survive the ardous yet rewarding aspects of jungle life. I will continue to build relationships with my Yanomami family, especially my mother Yarima. I will take in the wisdom and life lessons the Yanomami bestow upon me and share them with you all when I return.
As founder of The Good Project, I aim to serve as a trustworthy bridge between our vastly different worlds so that we can mainly learn from each other, teach other, and help one another. The Yanomami are the gatekeepers and protectors of our tropical frontiers. They have so much to teach us!
Throughout my stay in Venezuela, I will engage with and assist local leaders, medical personnel, and educators to gain a better understanding of the current, dynamic Yanomami way of life.
Please help us reach our goal by donating today. Any funds superceding our goal will go towards our future expeditions and research.
Sincerely yours,
David Ayopowe Good
