Return Tuan to His Family
Tax deductible
Tuan who has been in the United States for 23 years was taken away from his family and deported back to Vietnam. Tuan is a loving caring father to his family, who is always there for his daughter when she needs him and is the only caregiver to his son.
“My father is a loving caring person. He always helps old people carry stuff for them or give them food. He loves to help the homeless. Anyone that knows him knows that if they need help he will always help. I remember one time my mom friend asked him if he had money she could have to buy milk for her baby. He gives her money for milk and groceries for her old kids. He loves to cook and when he does he shares with the people he knows. Even when Covid was happening my father was always willing to help by cooking and giving out groceries to people in his neighborhood, My Tho.” - Kim Anh Dao, Tuan’s daughter
Who is Tuan?
In September of 2019 Tuan, father of two and longtime resident of Dorchester, went to report to ICE in Burlington and was deported shortly after without notice. Due to Tuan being deported without notice, he does not have any proper documents to live in Vietnam and cannot get his driver’s license and other necessities. He currently cannot work and is facing difficulties living in Vietnam where he has to pay for rent, utilities, food and transportation with the limited money that his daughter sends to him.
Tuan and his wife left Vietnam in 1996 due to racism because his wife was an Amerasian child of an US soldier. When the opportunity of coming to the United States came, they took it hoping that they would have a better life there. Tuan rebuilt his life by working on floors. He would always be ready to help those in need, whether it be a mother who needs help or an elder at the grocery store.
“Tuan has helped me through my rough time. When I have no one to turn to. He is willing to listen and help. I am glad to have him as a friend.” -Kim Hoang Tran
“Tuan was my friend. He helped me take care of my mother when she was sick. I'm very grateful to have a friend like him.” -Kim Hoang Tran
How will this money support Tuan?
This money will help Tuan with his difficulties while living in Vietnam. Currently he has no choice but to rely on his daughter who is a mother of two and also needs to take care of her own family. This money will help alleviate the burden of caring for her family and Tuan.
