Death Announcement
The family of Umukenzi Yusuf Bunoti of Nalondo, Butta, Bugobero, Manafwa District, Uganda regrets to announce the death of their beloved son, Dr. Melchizedek (Mel) Wabuke Bunoti who passed away on May 7, 2019 at Abbot Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. May he rest in peace. Surviving him are mother, Mirika; daughters, Grace, Charity, Hope, and Faith; and son Joshua, in addition to his former spouse Joy, 3 brothers and 2 sisters living in Uganda and one in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Mel graduated from Nabumali High School, Makerere University and University of Minnesota where he earned his master’s and Ph. D degrees in biology. Prior to coming to the U.S. for graduate studies, he served on the faculty of Makerere University. In his career, he was a scientist, educator, and in recent years, self-employed. He was a Christian, accomplished academician, and writer. Among the books he authored are Christian Worship: Perspectives of an African Native, (October 2009, Coltan Books); Eye on Africa: Perspectives of an African Native (November 2009, Coltan Books); and A Penny for My Mother: Possibilities for Social Economic Development, (2010, Coltan Books).
Many challenges emerge when one is self-employed, suddenly becomes sick and passes away. Under the circumstances, the Bunoti family needs some help. The challenge right now is to find financial help to transport his body home to Uganda for burial. Any financial assistance to help the family at this time of greatest need will be very much appreciated. The late’s sister, Ms. Jane Bunoti is coordinating funeral arrangements and will be grateful for any financial help using the contact information below:
