My Mother and sister came to visit me in Canada to attend my graduation from college in June 2018. It was a momentous occasion for her and my family as I was the last of 9 children and the first one to graduate university. She was undoubtedly the proudest parent in the audience from her glow. After the ceremony we went to dinner along with some colleagues from school. She proceeded to recant some of my most embarrassing moments growing up which was woven with praises of my accomplishments. Seven Saturdays after one of my most memorable moments tragedy struck. My mom was at home with my sister and her heart stopped. My wife performed CPR until the paramedics came and resuscitated her after a few minutes and whisked her off to the hospital. About an hour later the doctor came and gathered us into a room. He explained that her heart stopped again and they were unable to get it going. My mom was gone. A month exactly before her birthday and weeks before her flight back home to Jamaica. I had no words, I had no feelings, no awareness, no existence. Days later, my awareness returned and I am now faced with the task of fulfilling hers and the family’s wish, which is to return her to the family plot in Jamaica for final rest. With a CAN $15,000.00 average price tag from 7 funeral homes just to freight her home, the fear of disappointing my mother was setting in as a reality. On the advice of many I turn to crowd sourcing for your strength and support in returning my mom home to rest in peace with her family. With a target of CAN $20,000.00 and 30 days I embark of this drive with faith and humility. Please lend me your support to realize this dream. Thanks in advance and God bless…
