Fertiliser for Food Assisting Displaced Nigerians
My name is Vickie Janson and I'm raising money for Kaduna, Nigeria where communities who seek greater self-sufficiency and food security will be resourced to buy fertiliser and farm their land.
'Nigeria is facing a food security crisis that is compounded by the COVID-19 global pandemic and its effects on the food value chain in the country. The pandemic has significantly disrupted already fragile value chains across the country, including people’s ability to produce, process, and distribute food. The disruption to agricultural productivity and markets has a knock-on negative impact on livelihoods, especially among the most vulnerable households.'
This is especially true for those already impacted by drought, famine, terror, kidnapping and discrimination in the distribution of aid.
I've known the recipient Rev Muhammed Ibrahim for 10 years and how he tirelessly works to build happier, healthier communities through many projects. Last year he organised food items to assist the communities of Kujama, Makarau and Kachechere. In order to reduce the need for food aid this year, he is proposing to buy a trailer load of fertilizer. This Fertilizer Distribution Campaign is to enable widows and orphans to farm and produce some staple food items such as rice and maize. This fertilizer distribution will not only help these families, but will empower their communities. It will offer them some hope and security, and the dignity that accompanies a productive life when you can contribute something to your own family and community without total dependence on charity. Your support of this program, however small, is highly valued. It may provide the needed fertiliser and perhaps a little seed as well!
