My name is Edward Tucker, surviving spouse of deceased Reverend Michael Carbone. I am creating this Go Fund Me to me help pay Michael’s final medical expenses.
Rev Michael had several health issues that created a tragically fatal negative synergy. After many months, it was liver cancer that took his life.
Unpaid expenses total $20,000 or more.
During his six week hospitalization, I made daily, the 5 to 7 hour round-trip journey to see him. During his last weeks, as he wished, he was home. Because he only trusted me to care for him, I was on call 24 / 7.
Michael had several horrible experiences with dentists which made him extremely fearful, and when a specialist finally did the emergency surgery to remove all his teeth and anchor implants to hold new dental plates, the roots had been severely infected for a very long time, compromising his immune system.
After this surgery we expected he would make a full recovery. He was so proud of his new smile, I am so grateful he got to enjoy it, even though it was brief.
That surgery was about $15,000, put on a credit card.
Last year he could not breathe when it rained. We found mold in his bedroom, and he had infection in his lungs that required weeks of IV treatments.
Doctors treated him in our home several times a week, for months. Those visits, with medications, came to another several thousand dollars.
March 25, 2020, Rev Michael passed away peacefully, exactly as he wanted to, in our home, in the presence of myself, his faithful husband Edward.
For his final moments, complying with his deepest wishes, I was at his side, burning his favorite incense, playing soft music, holding his hand, and gently telling him it was OK to go, and that I would be OK.
Rev Michael was not without flaws. However, it is indisputable that he lived his life largely and generously, to help others. He was very deserving of your help. As partners, we lived a life of service, and I need your help to continue.
Together we created a small yet magical retreat/ healing center from our home in the mountains of Costa Rica, which we named after his beloved church, ‘Ser La Luz‘ (Spanish for Be The Light).
When word got out about the outstanding medical expenses, many people suggested that I ask for support. (Please keep in mind, Go Fund Me charges about a 5% fee.)
Grieving the loss of a spouse / soul mate is heart wrenching. Of course, not only is he gone, he no longer will bring income into the household. And I am left with these expenses, intensifying my grief.
My request is especially if you were touched my Michael, or are someone who received help from him without payment, my hope is you will find it in your heart to contribute to this worthy cause.
