Revamping Howe Elementary Black Top Area
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mason McBride and I am working on my Eagle Scout rank which I must plan, lead, and execute a service project for the good of people in my community. For the last several years I have been a Scout in Troop 65 of Mt. Lebanon, PA. Through my years of scouting, I have learned much about survival, leadership, citizenship, and service to others. My selected project will focus on improving the blacktop area of the Julia Ward Howe Elementary School. This is going to be a lot of work but I am very excited to show what I can do and give back to my community.
Being physically active is an important part of the overall health and well-being. I went to Home Elementary and have fond memories playing on the blacktop during recess. I'd like to provide the students with an area that encourages play and physical activity. Working with the school, this project will involve painting a variety of games on the blacktop area including:
• A painted sensory path of the guided movements like frog hops, spins and balancing for kids to follow and burn off excess energy;
• Basketball Court Lines;
• Copy Me games similar to Dance Dance Revolution & Simon Says;
• Additional Four Square Games;
• More Hopscotch Outlines;
• And, a return of the US Map at center court.
Many of my fellow Scouts, friends, and family will assist me in completing this very important project. Your donation will be used to cover the cost of materials (paint, paint brushes, painters tape and templates). Any funds that are left over, after the project, will be used to supply the school with equipment for use with these games and activities.
I hope you consider providing and helping me get this project done. Thank you so much for even considering donating to this project!
