Revitalize First Missionary Baptist Church's Legacy
Donation protected
First Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1845 and is one of the oldest African American churches in the State of Arkansas. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached at this magnificent church and slept at the church's parsonage. First Missionary Baptist Church is on the National Register of Historic Places since 1983.
We are desperately raising funds to restore, protect, and replace our gothic revival style roof (this includes the necessary masonry work). This work is critical as there have been leaks and parts have deteriorated. We are respectfully requesting funds to be raised to revitalize our historic church so that we can continue our services and continue to tell the story of such a glorious piece of architecture that is part of such a rich culture within the community and the country. We were featured in AY Magazine.
We will celebrate our 180th Church Anniversary on Friday, April 25, 2025!
