Revive a Dream: Transmission Repair Needed

I've always had a dream car. Ever since I first saw one when they came to the States, I always told my parents I didn't ever want a fancy sports car or a convertible. I wanted a Nissan Cube.

When a mechanic in my mom's town was selling this one for a good price, a mechanic that most everyone in the town trusted, she bought it for me for Christmas...

The CVT transmission broke on it no more than a week later.

Of course, we didn't know this was the issue. There are only a few mechanics in my mom's town. The mechanic she bought it from told her it was something else. We had that fixed, put $1,000 into it... It drove for a few more days, then wouldn't anymore.

Now, we have put money into it, it still doesn't drive, and it's still my dream car. So, I'm asking for help.

At this point, my mom can't afford to get it fixed, and I have repairs every other week on my very old and very broken current car. So it's either we take the loss on a few thousand dollars and junk this car, or we get the $700 we need to get the transmission fixed.
