Rex Hoyt
Rex Hoyt, the owner of Texas Rattler jig heads needs our immediate help, please. I have been reluctant to ask others to help Rex with his current health situation because Rex is a very proud man and I know he probably thinks he can work through this on his own. Well, he can’t and I am now crying out for financial assistance to assist him with medical costs that are not being covered by insurance.
Here is what has happened to our friend and brother, Rex. On February 20, 2020 a car pulled out in front of him doing a U-turn on Highway 35 between Rockport and Aransas Pass. Rex hit the car going while going 60 mph. The result was Rex severely damaged his spine. Since then, Rex has been receiving on going medical treatments to help with the pain. On July 25, 2021 Rex entered the hospital and it was discovered he had a very rare virus infection in his lower spine. The virus started to eat up portions of his lower spine. He has been in the hospital getting multiple MRI’s, constant antibiotics and insertions of drainage tubes to drain the puss in the spinal area since July 25th and is scheduled to get out around September 20th to the 26th.
Rex has recently been receiving physical therapy treatments recently while in the hospital. He tells me if they want me to do 12 reps, then make me do 18 reps he pleads. That’s the Rex we all know and love. He has done so much for his fishing brothers and sisters all over the country and the Rockport community where he resides and would give you the shirt off his back. He created the Rockport Fishing Expo simply to help his fellow fishing entrepreneurs and to give back to the Rockport community.
Rex currently has multiple physical and pain problems caused by the virus. He has lost the use of his left leg. He is unable to walk on his own. Upon being released from the hospital in September, Rex will have to have home-based physical therapy treatments daily for at least 2 months. Rex’s insurance policy does not cover this type of treatment. Rex has estimated that the home-based physical therapy treatment will cost $7,000. I can only imagine of what this has done financially to his family and his business. I respectfully pray and ask that we can raise $20,000 for our fishing friend, Rex Hoyt.
