Rex Needs Help CRUSHING his Medical Bills

Our close friend Rex Wagner was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer late spring of 2024. Since that day he's defied the odds to navigate a complicated medical system, the physiological trials of immunotherapy and radiation treatments, totally refashion his lifestyle and diet, and managed the emotional toll of staring down death on a daily basis. He has miraculously beat back that beast.

But now he needs our help.

If you know him, you know that Rex is a humble and stoic guy, so you won't ever see him ask for help (although we asked him to mention this on his wordpress page). But Rex has exhausted all of his sick and vacation leave from his job at the university, and his medical bills are piling up. He recently resigned from his position at the university to focus on his treatment, and start the 6 month clock before he can start collecting disability insurance.

Hidden under that stoicism is a giant heart - Uncle Rex, Big brothers/big sisters, volunteering at Bikes for Kids, unyielding loyalty to loved ones and friends above all, Rex will be there. If you know him, I'm sure you've felt his generosity. Now as his friends, we're asking you to join us in returning the favor.

We're asking your help to raise $30k (or more) to cover Rex's medical expenses until his disability insurance kicks in. Rex is also a candidate, pending approval, for a clinical trial of a new kidney cancer treatment - this would require considerable travel costs which are not covered by insurance.
