We (Alex and Peter) were contacted in early December and asked if we would be willing to open our home to a baby due to be born in April. We are so excited!! The option to foster and/or adopt has been on our hearts since we were dating. Back in 2020, we pursued foster care, but due to Peter's military commitments, we were not able to see it through. In this past year, the desire to start our family has been steadily growing and we had recently concluded we are ready to adopt and/or foster. It's one thing to say you're ready, it's another thing to actually pursue it. And then it's a whole other thing when a child in need is basically dropped in your lap! After seeking counsel and prayer, we said yes! It's terrifying and exciting and beautiful, but we know that this is where we are being lead. That brings us a lot of peace. But the three and a half month timeline is tight and this unexpected (but certainly not unwelcome!) opportunity is extremely expensive. Any money raised will be used for legal and medical bills as well as travel expenses. In addition to the usual legal adoption bills and the normal hospital fees, it is almost a 100% guarantee that there will also be a 2 week NICU stay. In chatting with our attorney and researching inter-state adoption laws, we have calculated the cost of this adoption. If you, your friends and family, church or community group are able to support us, we would be incredibly grateful. There are not sufficient words to express how much we will be indebted to those who give so we can bring this baby girl home.
