First, let me start off by saying thank you for being here and taking the time to read this. My father, Rey Flores, is in need of your help. To be blunt, this is a matter of life or death. I know that sounds extreme but it's where he is at. At the moment he is out of work and without medical insurance. With little to no money coming in and a rough road ahead of him, my father and my family could really use a blessing.
As some of you may know, about October 31 , my father was admitted to the emergency room with respiratory issues. What seemed like a quick scare of exhaustion and shortness of breath would turn out to be much worse than what we could have ever expected. He was having trouble breathing and had chest pains with a severe cough. A high fever was starting to take over his body and test were done started iv infusion along with strong antibiotic Because of the sympotoms he was showing doctors and nurses all assumed Covid-19, but negative test after negative test all proved to be otherwise. An x-ray of his chest and lungs quickly showed something was wrong. An entire lung was missing! not visable Completely blank on the photo. Can you imagine my mothers reaction when the doctors asked her "when did your husband have his lung removed?" Scary! Because of the abnormality he was immediatly admitted to the hospital and more test were ordered. A CT scan would later show one of his lungs (the one that was missing in the x-ray) was collapsed and two tumors had grown inside of his lungs (with one blocking the airway to the collapsed lung).
Fast foward to today, we had a sit down with oncologist who really broke everything down for us. After multiple tests and a lung biopsy, the doctors discovered the presence of cancer. Unfortunately, to make matters worse, the hospital did a horrible job with the testing and did not fully run all the proper tests needed to fully diagnose the severity of his cancer. Even with the limited info she had, she was 100% sure that his cancer was advanced enough that right now time is of the essence and that he needs to be on treatment as soon as possible to save his life. With no resources and no insurance you can only imagine the struggle that lies ahead. Right now he is in need of further imaging and pathology test which are on hold due to no resources. As of now, my mother has applied for medicaid to help get my dad the help that he needs but it can take anywhere from 30 - 90 days before approval. Anything in that time frame before apporval will have to be paid in cash and as you can imagine, treatment is expensive, and my dad and his family could use all of the financial support we can get.
Your generosity can help lighten the load, so that he can focus on recovery. Your kind donation will go directly to help deal with the financial repercussions of his current condition (medical bills, medication, future treatment costs) so that he and our family can focus on healing and supporting one another.
