My husband was a victim of gun violence. I lost him on early Sunday morning. He was trying to save my 20 yo. son from being jumped and getting his head bashed in at a Quinceañera party. He had asked to go visit to catch up with a girl that was his friend since middle school. As the night went on I hadn’t heard from him until I got a phone call at 3:30am frantically saying “Mom I’m getting my ass beat” and that he was able to slightly see through his busted eyes and lock himself in the bathroom to make the phone call. I told him to stay in there until I got there and I immediately phoned PD dispatch for help and back up as we drive on the way. Soon as I got there I texted my son HERE. Then my husband & I stepped out to see if we can get my son to safety and proceeded to question the guys out front “who’s beating on our son and as soon as one of the guys smirked and denies that nobody’s done anything that’s when the fight starts. Clearly they were all bystanders watching my son get beat in the front yard. I stayed at the porch to assist my son to the car, never went inside the house. Our son walks out, staggering, bloody face dripping down from everywhere, as I’m getting him in the car my husband & my other 17 yo. son trying to defend himself and father from 10 other men rushing at them and within a matter of minutes, someone pulls out a gun and shoots my husband twice in the stomach. My 20 yo son suffered/ sustained multiple facial fractures hematoma in both eyes. Left eye closed shut can’t see clearly. 4-7 staples in the back of his head ,bruised back from being kicked. All my children were witnesses of my husband getting shot and dying. The paramedics who took almost 15-20 minutes to get there brought him to hospital but during surgery he lost too much blood. He possibly would’ve survived had it only been one gunshot wound, but the second one hit too many organs and bled out.
My husband was my sole provider. He was a hard worker. He was about to get a second job. I was so proud of him for doing what he could for our family during a housing crisis we had just encountered. I wasn’t ready to lose him. He was my husband, lover, and best friend. Anyone who knew him knows he loved to joke around and loved the 49ers ,SFGiants Warriors We created a beautiful family over the last 20 + years. I lost him due to him trying to save our son from these bully’s.
The cops still haven’t found the suspect as this is still an ongoing investigation. I am the surviving wife, a daughter & grandson on the way, and four sons. Anything helps during this horrific and unforeseen tragedy
