Hey, my name is Anusha and I need help covering the cost of my Psoriasis treatment. In 2009, I was diagnosed with Psoriasis, and I have been struggling with the physical and emotional symptoms of Psoriasis since then. I have been doing everything I can to get help. I did not have insurance when I was diagnosed, and insurance companies do not accept my application since I was already diagnosed with Psoriasis.

Over the period, we have met with a team of doctors: primary care, dermatologist, rheumatologist, and they have given me a couple options. Currently I am a candidate for phototherapy. We have tried nearly every form of topical steroid and they are not having the effect they should. I have multiple raised red to skin colored lesions over my body and am struggling with itching over the lesion and that progressed to the whole body as you can see in some photos below.

I have three different types of psoriasis: plaque, guttate and scalp. These conditions cause me to feel intensely itchy and uncomfortable, there are also times I experience a burning sensation. I also have developed psoriatic arthritis which I have been mostly trying to manage with anti-inflammatory supplements, but I am dealing with full body inflammation. Lastly is the hair loss as my scalp is almost completely compromised. Aside from the physical symptoms I have also been dealing with extreme fatigue and all sorts of emotional side effects due to my condition. It’s a lot more than just what it looks like is what I’m getting at. I am also going to be working with a mental health therapist to help manage some of the underlying causes such as severe anxiety, which honestly has been debilitating at times.

Symptoms and Treatment:

In 2009 a doctor confirmed it is Psoriasis and suggested taking medicine since the effect was less and suggested medicine to help reduce the pain and prevent spreading. Luckily, I had no h/o HTN/DM/Asthma but however It got spread to the whole body so I had to undergo treatment for 6 months for retrocecal bursitis off medication and there was seizure disorder for years. I have taken homeopathic treatment for 5months then multiple ayurvedic treatments and used ointments from local practitioners for 6 months believing it will help my condition. I have also taken the phototherapy treatment. The medicines and the injections I have consumed had side effects due to which I lost my pregnancy 2 times in 2014 and 2020.

All these years, I personally have struggled with a lot of sleepless nights due to itching, normal bladder, and bowel habits. The recent diagnosis confirmed psoriasis vulgaris with epilepsy with anal fissure. Multiple erythematous plaques to papules with silvery scaling discrete to confluence varying from size 0.1*1 cm to 2*2 cm to 2*3 cm present over both upper and lower limb, few hyperpigmented raised papule to patch 1*1 cm and 2*2 cm lesion present over b/l upper limb and b/l lower limb trunk face.

Over the past several years we have spent about INR 20,00,000 and are struggling financially for the ongoing and upcoming treatments.

Doctors are currently performing phototherapy and suggesting taking a Methotrexate/ cyclosporine Injection each month for one year to hope that will reduce the pain and spreading of Psoriasis for the next 2 years. and that will cost around INR 50,000 per injection. My husband and parents are trying their best to cover the medical bills and are also reaching out to any fund sources available in finding any help we can get to pay for medical bills.
