Dylan Davis Skydive Accident
Donation protected
Dylan Davis was involved in a serious skydiving accident in Southern California, resulting in major injuries. We are extremely thankful that Dylan is alive and with us. The doctors said that most people do not survive these types of injuries. The number of surgeries Dylan will need is unknown, but we know that the surgeries will be over a period of months…potentially years. He will be in a rehabilitation center for most of his recovery.
Dylan has extensive injuries to his pelvis, spine, lower legs, and ankles.
He shattered his pelvis.
His spine was disassociated from his pelvis.
He severed multiple arteries.
He was given 21 units of blood when he arrived at the trauma center.
He has multiple fractures in his back, including the lumbar area, L1-L5.
Fractured hip.
He fractured multiple ribs resulting in a collapsed lung.
He has compound fractures on both lower legs below the knee.
He was in ICU Trauma for two weeks.
Thankfully he has no head injuries.
He was transferred to The University of California, San Diego, Hillcrest Hospital, where orthopedic and spine specialists can better treat his traumatic injuries. Here The Spine Team and Orthopedic Team performed a spine/pelvic fusion procedure which was highly successful.
After much thought, consultation and weeks of deliberation, Dylan and his Orthopedic Team decided that it was best that his right lower leg be amputated 7” below the knee. The size of the open wound, a missing bone (that was never found), and infection resulted in the need for amputation. As graphic as it sounds, Dylan’s coworkers and friends were picking up his bones from the grass field.
It’s almost impossible to list the number of challenges and expenses resulting from Dylan’s accident. The list grows every day.
If you have had the great fortune of meeting Dylan, you know how full of life he is. Dylan has a positive attitude about the long road to recovery. Please help and show your love and gratitude for him by donating to his GoFundMe. With the loss of income, prosthetic expenses, unknown medical bills, living expenses, and loss of work due to this tragic accident, any amount you choose to donate will help tremendously.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. The outpouring of love & support has been uplifting & appreciated. Please forward this information to anyone and everyone. Thank you!
