Rhea Wolf needs community support

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Your support has meant the world to Rhea—it allowed her to take the time off that she needed to care for herself and her kids, and covered Pepper's vet expenses.

Unfortunately, the world has not eased up on Rhea. We're updating the goal to $9000 because she is now facing additional medical expenses. Of the new funds, $2000 will cover the out-of-pocket treatment needed for her kids, while $2500 will cover Pepper's ongoing medical needs.

Rhea Wolf is a powerhouse of the Portland queer community. As a Peer Wellness Specialist at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare, she spends her days helping people in crisis find the stability they need to recover. She is the co-founder of the Portland School of Astrology, where she connected astrologers and community members to their creativity and themselves. And she is a badass writer, friend, and mom.

And she needs our help.

Rhea has been on intermittent and part-time FMLA since December 2022 to take care of her children’s ongoing serious health issues. This is unpaid leave, which has caused significant financial stress. Last week, her cat Pepper had to have emergency surgery. Her work has also been intense and emotionally taxing, particularly in the last several months.

Rhea has been providing intense caregiving both professionally and at home and deeply needs to take some time to assist with her kids’ ongoing health challenges and to attend to her own mental health. She is planning to take 10 days off from work, unpaid, to rest and take care of her children and Pepper. $1500 will cover one paycheck, letting her pay the mortgage and buy groceries and other staples. $4500 will cover that and the vet bill from Pepper’s surgery. Additional funds will help cover treatment for Rhea’s kids, much of which is not covered by insurance.
