Rhett Kingy's Journey

Hey guys, I'm Shane'o, I am here to help out a good mate and his beautiful family. I want to raise much-needed funds for my mate Rhett so I am going to challenge myself also. I pledge to ride 100kms in the month of May 2023 on my Motomed. For those of you who don't know me I am quadriplegic and the Motomed is like riding a bike.

Rhett was my best man at my wedding back in 2019, Rhett is only in his early 30's, he is married to Jess and they have two gorgeous boys together aged 7 and 2. In Early 2021 Rhett found a small lump in his testicle. The Doctor told him it was nothing to worry about, but by September 2021 the lump grew and became painful. He was advised things didn't look good and had to have his Testical removed. He then received the news everyone was dreading, Rhett had Cancer and it had already spread to his Lymph and Lungs with a Stage 3 diagnosis.

Rhett committed to a life-changing holistic approach and amazingly the Cancer in his lungs was healed, but unfortunately, the Lymph tumors were stubborn. In October 2022 Rhett decided to start Chemotherapy, he had treatment 5 days a week for 10 weeks as an inpatient away from his family. The Chemo was unsuccessful in shrinking the tumours and Rhett was left with making the decision to have a radical surgery in the hope of survival. He had his surgery in March 2023. Rhett spent 3 days in the ICU on a ventilator and was in the hospital for a total of 12 days trying to heal and get his pain under control. While doctors are confident they have removed all of the Cancer, it will be 6 months before Rhett will know for sure. And it will be some time before Rhett is back up on his feet.

Whilst it seems Rhett has a good diagnosis now it has taken an emotional and financial toll on his family, Rhett had his own successful plumbing business that he has had to let go of to be able to fight this battle and Jess has had to spend most of her time supporting Rhett and holding the family together through such an ordeal. After such a long battle these guys need all the financial help we can give them. So please support me to challenge myself and raise much-needed funds for Rhett, Jess and the boys.
