For Jennifer's Recovery
Donation protected
Over the Passover and Easter holiday weekend a horrible tragedy fell upon my family. My niece Jennifer, who is like a little sister to me and only 40 years old, had a massive stroke. She is now in a coma with damage in the pons area of her brain stem.
Jennifer had recently moved from NY to New Mexico for a better life for her and her son Diego. Diego just turned 15 on Friday and this stroke happened on Saturday. As soon as the stroke occurred, Jennifer was airlifted to Lubbock, TX. I flew in from Columbus OH and the rest of my family came in from NY. We have been bedside ever since.
And we have already seen progress! Jennifer is opening her eyes more, she can blink sometimes to answer questions, and she has on a few occasions moved her foot on command. While she is partially breathing on her own, she will likely need a trach inserted next week in order to breathe reliably. But after that, Jennifer must leave this hospital to a long term care facility.
Jennifer is the most bubbly loving person that you could ever hope to meet. She literally lights up a room when she enters. She loves to cook, sing, and do your make-up and hair to make you look beautiful. But most of all, Jennifer loves her son and would do anything for him.
Jennifer already has dealt with her fair share of tragedy, from losing her father at a young age to having her dearest friend be deported just last year. But by far the most horrific tragedy was losing her first son. Charlie was only 10 months old when he suffered severe brain damage resulting from meningitis. Jennifer devoted herself to that baby and cared for him day and night for 4 years until he died. That is something that no parent should ever have to go through.
But because of that experience and so many others, too many to mention, I can tell you that Jennifer is a FIGHTER. She is the strongest woman I know. Her faith in God is absolute. She loves her son and family and friends and WE LOVE HER!
We are asking for funding to help bring Jennifer back to NY. The only way to get her there is by airlifting her but it is extremely costly and not covered by insurance. Your contribution will allow Jennifer's family and friends to be by her side as she embarks on this difficult journey of recovery. We have read about success stories online and we know that she can be one of them. But we need to bring Jennifer home to NY so we can help and support her. Texas is just too far away. Thank you in advance for anything you can give.
