RHODE ISLAND FIRE ACADEMY "BRAVE THE SHAVE"

Dear Fire Recruits, Instructor Staff ,Family, & Friends
I hope this message finds you well and filled with enthusiasm for making a positive impact in our community. As a team, we have a unique opportunity to support children battling cancer and their families through a heartfelt initiative.
We're rallying together to shave our heads in solidarity with those fighting childhood cancer. This act symbolizes our commitment to standing alongside these brave children and showing them that they are not alone in their fight. This in house event will be private and held during school hours but we encourage live streaming and sharing on social media. We're not stopping there – we're also aiming to raise funds to support vital research and provide assistance to families facing the challenges of pediatric cancer. All proceeds will be donated to St Baldrick's Charity.
As many of you may know, Smithfield Fire Department lost a firefighter this month to pediatric cancer from on duty operations. These types of cancers not only affect young children but us as first responders and our family from the hazardous environments we work in. If you don't want to buzz your head we ask that you still attempt to raise donations for the cause.
We have a long career ahead of us and our reputation starts here at the academy. Let's make this first act of solidarity one that every class after us looks to emulate or surpass.
