RHONDA PATTON for medical expenses
Donation protected
On March 27th our lives changed forever. My beautiful, sweet, vibrant mother, Rhonda Patton, developed blod clots out of the blue. She started coughing blood and her leg was hurting so we took her to the ER. After 5 days in the hospital she was released... but just a few days later her leg was worse. An emergency surgery was done and they had to amputate her left leg. Her leg was completely full of massive blood clots, even with her taking powerful blood thinners. We though things were under control and were getting better, but her other leg started to turn purple. My mama was flown to WVU where they tried to save her other leg, but 2 days later they had to amputate it as well. My Beautiful active mother who loved working, lost both of her legs above the knee in the matter of weeks. She has been in the hospital since April 5th. There still is no clear answer as to why she suddenly started developing blood clots. Her medical bills are mounting, and we are trying to prepare our home for her return. The stairlift alone is $10100.00, But without it she would not be able to get in and out of the home she loves so much. We are unsure as to what all medical equipment she will need but I am sure the cost will be significant. She is being transferred to a skilled care facility next week to begin her rehabilitation process. She still has a long way to recovery, but we can't wait to get her home.
My mother spent 38 years working for the Mercer County School Board with special needs children and just retired a few years ago. She is the strongest, most caring person I know. She gave so much to all the children she cared for, and now she needs the communities help.
Any help is greatly appreciated and If you can't donate we ask that you please say a prayer for her. Thank you to all our friends and family that have prayed, checked on her, sent cards and flowers, sent food, and just been there for us... it means more than you know!
